Introduction to OP4

Baseline goals: a true FPS experience, a good inventory, actions, a large variety of weapon and character customization, and an immersive enviroment. Here is a breakdown of each goal and the progress made so far.

A True First Person Shooter Experience

OP4

This involves no "FPS Arms", similar to what DayZ has. The reason for this is because we want to keep what you see on your screen to reflect what others see. Guns are held correctly where your player is actually looking down the sight when aiming, not just moving the camera.

A Good Inventory

OP4

Significant progress has been made on the inventory system. I've evaulated several games inventories from Rust, Tarkov, DayZ, but hands down Tarkov has the most superior inventory system. It is incredibly intuitive and functional in comparison to DayZ. Rust is very simple, but we're wanting a more complex system.

Actions

OP4

Picking up items, opening doors, reloading, even dancing are all actions that have been implemented. The system was built day 1 and is pretty much complete.

Weapon and Character Customization

OP4

Character Customization is being handled solely through AJ, he's added numerous clothing items to fit into each faction. Weapon customization is still in the works, but the base system is in place. Weapons can have attachments added and removed, and the system is built to handle a large variety of attachments.

Immersive Enviroment

OP4

I decided I really enjoyed playing airsoft at a specific AO, so we went with that. We learned how to get the satellite map and arcgis data to create a landscape that matches the real world. The location is a retired nuclear waste recycling plant on property owned by the Department of Energy. It is a part of the SRS (Savannah River Site), there's a lot of research to be done on the real location, but the idea and availablity of reference material makes this a great location.
